gay youth community
Posted 2nd Nov 2011.

After four-and-a-half years I have decided to close the Plexed community. When I decided to start this site I was myself a gay teen coming to terms with myself, who had been helped vastly through my younger teen years by forum sites. I started Plexed then to make sure gay teens had a place to chat and get support like I had had. I am now 21, and so no longer a teen myself. As well as this, I simply don't have the time now to dedicate to running the site, and like me most of  the moderator team have also grown up and moved on.

To all past members, thanks for making Plexed such an amazing community! If you're interested in joining a Facebook group for "Plexed alumni", give me an email at rob@plexed.net

To those looking to join a new community, I can recommend the below websites:

The Gay Youth Corner - http://thegyc.com/ - Profiles and busy forums
ChadzBoyz - http://chadzboyz.com/chadzforum/index.php- was the site I grew up with.
Awful name, I know, but used to be a brilliant community there. There may still be.

And http://www.gayteenforum.org/ looks busy, but I've never been on it myself.

I know when you're 13 how scary what you're feeling can seem, and how alone you might feel because of it. Fact is, there will be gay and bisexual people all around you - you just don't know it yet. There will come a time when you'll feel ready to tell the people around you, and chances are when it comes to it the people you care about won't care that you're gay. They'll continue to be your friend as before, and you'll continue to be your own unique person, with your sexuality being just one little part of that. That was my experience, anyway. In the meantime, internet forums are a good place to speak to people your age going through exactly the same thing as you.

You're definitely not alone, and if things seem bad just now they will definitely get better.

Laters ;)
